Questions about scaling & gum treatment
How often should I get my teeth cleaned?
Many people do well with a professional clean every six months. If you have gum disease, we may recommend more frequent visits.
Does scaling damage the teeth?
No. Scaling removes deposits from the surface and does not harm healthy enamel. Teeth may feel slightly sensitive for a day or two.
Why do my gums bleed?
Most often because of plaque and gum inflammation. Bleeding is a sign to get checked, not a reason to brush less.
Can gum disease be treated?
Early gum disease can usually be reversed with professional cleaning and good home care. More advanced disease needs deeper treatment, which we will explain.
This page gives general information. Every mouth is different, so the right treatment and timeline depend on your examination.
